COFFI is a completely independent, multi-roaster shop. We serve coffee and pastry from an 18th century coach house in the heart of Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter. Our offering changes every ~10 days, serving coffee from some of our favourite roasters worldwide. We have no house coffee. Some of the roasters we’ve served most recently are Friedhats, Morgon, Lucky Cat, La Cabra, DAK, AMOC, Coffee Collective, Prolog, NOMAD, Right Side, Manhattan.

We serve an extremely coffee-focused and small menu on the following setup:

  • La Marzocco Linea PB AV 2gp
  • Mahlkonig E80s GBW for daily espresso
  • Mahlkonig EK43 x2 for special espresso & filter
  • Fellow Aiden for batch brew
  • Marco SP9 & Kalita Wave for pourover

Due to increasing growth, we’re looking for a talented Assistant Manager to help lead our team in a fast-paced, quality-focused, multi-roaster coffee shop. This role is perfect for someone with deep specialty coffee experience, a love of elite-level hospitality, and the confidence to lead busy shifts from the floor.

About the Role

As Assistant Manager, you’ll be an essential part of the leadership team, supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring smooth, efficient service throughout the week. You’ll bring strong shift management experience, help maintain our high standards, and foster a positive, motivated team culture. This is a hands-on position – you’ll be active on the shop floor running shifts, leading by example and helping us deliver an outstanding coffee and service experience every day.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven specialty coffee background, ideally with multi-roaster shop experience
  • At least supervisor-level experience running fast-paced shifts
  • Passion for great service and creating a warm, welcoming space
  • Confidence in managing workflows, quality control, and people under pressure
  • Clear, honest communication and a collaborative, team-first mindset
  • High attention to detail, organisation, and cleanliness standards
  • Bonus: some experience with stock ordering, rota planning, or onboarding/training

Key Responsibilities

  • Run and support busy shifts with calm leadership and clear direction
  • Lead by example on the shop floor: quality, pace, presence, and service
  • Help train and support junior team members
  • Manage workflows and staff placements to ensure efficient service
  • Maintain stock levels, support ordering, and uphold cleanliness standards
  • Handle customer feedback professionally and with care
  • Communicate openly with the team and management to share updates, ideas, and issues
  • Help drive continuous improvement, staff morale, and shop performance

What You’ll Get
